Working in the city centre of Cardiff you can’t help but notice how homelessness affects so many people.  We wanted to find a way to help, so we teamed up with The Wallich to create the Coats For Cardiff project.

If you’ve got a warm, waterproof coat at home which you no longer need, please come to donate it on the weekend of 19th & 20th October 2019 and we’ll make sure it goes to somebody without a home this winter who will appreciate being just that little bit warmer.

In return you’ll receive a voucher to get £100 of a ski holiday plus 10% off a new ski jacket! (Full details here)

We’ve arranged for donated coats to be cleaned and re-waterproofed, and then The Wallich will be distributing them.

You’ll find the Coats For Cardiff drop-in at 12 Morgan Arcade, open from 10:00-16:00 on 19th & 20th October 2019.

We spoke to Mike Cowley, Fundraising & Partnerships Senior Manager at The Wallich, and this is what he had to say about how your help is appreciated…

Ski jackets are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and for someone living a street based lifestyle, exposure to extreme weather can be life threatening. This is why your donation is so important.

A good quality waterproof coat, which fits properly, can make a real difference to someone who is sleeping rough as staying warm and dry can prevent people from developing serious health conditions that can put their lives at risk. By taking part in the Coats for Cardiff event, you will be helping ensure that someone who is forced to sleep rough is protected from the elements.

If you don’t have a ski jacket but would still like to support the campaign, you can still help by making a donation to our Pass The Parcel campaign. Pass the Parcel helps The Wallich buy appropriate items for people on the streets, in the right size and in a colour of their choice, as and when they are needed.
